Minor damage and quite common for oil paintings; Two hairs of lawrence coulson dried into the oil when painting.. first hair is about 4mm width and 1/4mm thick? Second hair is about 4cm to the right edge of the painting and 2cm of it has come away leaving a small imprint behind. Had to zoom in 4 times to capture picture.
Last Season is a powerful original oil on board by Lawrence Coulson with its expansive format and sweeping horizontal composition, the piece exemplifies Coulson’s signature style; evocative landscapes rich with mood, atmosphere, and emotional depth. The work draws the eye toward a distant vanishing point beneath a luminous sky, capturing the essence of seasonal change and quiet reflection.
The title, Last Season, suggests endings, transition, and perhaps the memory of a place once full of life now standing in silence. Its earthy tones and layered brushwork evoke a subtle melancholy without losing warmth, allowing the viewer to linger within its serene emptiness.
This is a significant work by a major name in British landscape painting, ideal for collectors who value contemplative imagery and timeless emotional storytelling. Last Season invites a slow gaze, a deep breath, and a personal moment with nature’s vast and changing beauty.
