Joseph Henderson R.S.W. (1832–1908) was a Scottish painter born in Perthshire, known for his landscapes, marine and coastal scenes, genre works, and portraits. He studied at the Trustees Academy in Edinburgh and exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts. While he began his career focusing on portraiture, Henderson later became celebrated for his evocative depictions of Scottish seascapes and European scenes. Some records refer to him as J.D.
