In Study for Michiko III, Fabian Perez offers a captivating glimpse into the grace and elegance that define his distinctive style, presenting an intimate portrait of a woman whose presence lingers long after the gaze. This study captures the moment of a figure, partially obscured by the delicate arc of a paper umbrella, yet fully alive in her expression and the subtle language of her body. The lines from the umbrella, rendered with exquisite precision, create a rhythmic texture that both frames and enhances the beauty of the subject. They are not mere details but an integral part of the composition, leading the eye across the canvas.

The figure’s face stands out as the focal point of the piece, exquisitely drawn with the attention to detail for which Perez is renowned. The contours of the face, softened by light and shadow, convey a profound depth of emotion—quiet, contemplative, and inviting the viewer into her world. There is a serene intensity in her gaze, a silent story unfolding in her expression. Perez’s mastery of capturing the human form is on full display here, with the face imbued with an almost timeless quality that transcends the moment.

Fabian Perez’s artwork finds its roots in his unorthodox upbringing. born in Buenos Aires in 1967, Perez grew up catching glimpses of the nightlife at his father’s nightclubs and bordellos. With his artistic mother and roguish father, Perez saw the glamour and romance of the world they inhabited: passionate and elegant, refined and secretive. Now, his memories of those stylish and fascinating characters populate his work.

After losing both parents before his twenties, Perez began to travel the world, developing his artistic talents as he did so. He also discovered martial arts, and studied with a dedication that would later impact the discipline he used to perfect his art style.

After his career took off while he was working in Italy, Perez experienced a growing recognition and fame for his now famous art style. He eventually moved to the US, where accolades and admiration for his art has continued to grow. He now lives and works in Los Angeles, still creating work and touring to interact with his always expanding group of followers.
