The artwork , titled ‘Four (4) Heads Came Out on Wednesday’, is a signed, limited edition lithograph produced by David Lynch and was to mark the opening of My Head Is Disconnected; his first major UK exhibition, held at HOME Manchester in 2019 as part of the Manchester International Festival.
The edition was strictly limited to 100 prints, each hand-signed by the artist and printed at Item editions. The image depicts a spectral landscape of floating heads and a solitary hillside dwelling, rendered in a stark black-and-white palette typical of Lynch’s lithographic work. The print came with an invitation to the exhibition’s private preview on 5 July 2019.

David Lynch was a globally revered filmmaker and visual artist whose body of work spans painting, photography, sculpture, music, and cinema.
Born in 1946 (Died January 2025) , Lynch originally trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts before emerging as a ground breaking director with Eraserhead (1977), Blue Velvet (1986), and Twin Peaks (1990). Across media, his work is unified by a fascination with the subconscious, the uncanny, and the fragile boundary between beauty and darkness.
Lynch consistently returned to drawing and printmaking throughout his career, developing a distinctive visual language rooted in surrealism, absurdity, and emotional ambiguity. His lithographs, particularly those created at the renowned Item editions studio in Paris, have become increasingly sought after on the international art market.
