“Wish You Were Here” is a striking work that blends vivid abstraction with a touch of surrealism. At its centre is the silhouette of a man in a bowler hat, emerging from a swirl of rich blues, fiery reds, and earthy tones. The fluid brushstrokes and layered textures create a dreamlike sense of motion, inviting the viewer into a moment that feels both fleeting and timeless. The piece explores themes of identity, presence, and introspection, encouraging personal interpretation and emotional reflection. Mysterious and evocative, it’s a powerful example of the artist’s distinctive, expressive style.

Alex Echo is a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist whose vibrant, abstract works span painting, sculpture, and design. For over four decades, Alex has created art with a deep reverence for nature, art history, and the transformative power of color. Known for his signature swirling, dripping, and splashing techniques, his paintings are composed of thousands of brushstrokes and movements—each one a meditation on light, water, and time.

Born in Colorado on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains, and now living on a farm in West Sussex with his daughter, Alex has found lifelong inspiration in both the majesty of the natural world and the richness of human creativity. His influences span artistic movements from Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism to Minimalism and Pop Art, all of which he blends into a singular visual language that is instantly recognisable yet constantly evolving.

Echo’s work is rooted in sustainability and respect for the environment. He uses high-quality, water-based paints and non-toxic resins, and even collects dried paint remnants to incorporate into future large-scale works. Every piece he creates is a celebration of beauty, and a call to protect the fragile ecosystems that inspire him.

His work has been exhibited globally and is held in prestigious private and corporate collections, including those of Prince Rainier of Monaco, Oprah Winfrey, Robert Downey Jr., Cindy Crawford, and former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. He has collaborated with institutions such as Glyndebourne and iconic figures like Sir Paul Smith and Eric Clapton—designing a couture fabric print for the former and painting a bespoke guitar for the latter.

Alex’s art has raised over £850,000 for charitable causes including The Prince’s Trust, WaterAid, and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. He remains deeply committed to giving back through his creative practice.

“I try with my paintings to honour this place—this England where my daughter is growing up. There is an endless supply of inspiration here—an unlimited palette and viewpoint. I am lucky to be here.”

From his West Sussex studio, where nothing is wasted and everything is intentional, Alex Echo continues to explore new visual frontiers—creating art that speaks of gratitude, hope, and a reverence for the world we share.
