Zachary Walsh

Zachary Walsh is a British painter known for blending classical techniques with a contemporary sensibility. His work explores the tension between the real and the imagined, creating an ethereal mystery where the personal and the theatrical collide. Walsh’s figurative paintings capture the complexities of human expression and gesture, with a masterful focus on portraiture and the human form.

A graduate of the Royal College of Art, Walsh has exhibited internationally, with solo shows in galleries such as 101 Exhibit (Miami), Signal Gallery (London), and James Freeman Gallery. His work has been featured in prominent events like the MTV European Awards and the G-40 Summit in Washington, and is held in private collections, including those of Standard Chartered Bank in Tokyo and London.

For six years, Walsh was the in-house artist for Holland Park Opera, creating a unique dialogue between the grandeur of opera and the intimacy of everyday life. In recent years, he has expanded into abstraction, exploring the subconscious and pushing the limits of creative expression. Walsh’s work has earned critical acclaim, with recognition including a shortlist for the Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Prize and a nomination for the Prix Canson in 2016.
