Nick Morley Linocutboy
Nick Morley, known by his artistic pseudonym Linocutboy, is a British artist, illustrator, author, and educator renowned for his mastery of linocut printmaking. Residing in Margate, Kent, he established Hello Print Studio in 2013 to foster a collaborative environment for artists and to offer printmaking workshops.
Morley’s work is deeply influenced by the tradition of Natural History prints, drawing inspiration from artists such as Thomas Bewick, Ulisse Aldrovandi, and Konrad Gessner. He often explores themes of human interaction with the natural world, infusing his prints with a sense of humor and irreverence. His linocuts, which often depict animals in whimsical or surreal scenarios, have garnered a global following and are widely collected.
In addition to his artistic practice, Morley is a prolific author and educator. He has penned two books on linocut techniques: Linocut for Artists and Designers (Crowood Press, 2016) and Linocut: Learn in a Weekend (Skittledog, 2023). Through these publications and his workshops, he has made linocut printmaking more accessible to a broader audience.
His illustrations have been featured on book covers, in magazines, and on product labels, showcasing the versatility and appeal of his linocut style. Morley’s work continues to inspire both seasoned artists and newcomers to the world of printmaking, solidifying his place as a significant figure in contemporary British art.
