Jake Wood-Evans

Jake Wood‑Evans (b. 1980) is a British contemporary painter known for his haunting reinterpretations of Old Master works, blending figuration with abstraction to explore themes of memory, decay, and time. Working primarily in oil, he draws on the visual language of artists like Turner, Rubens, and Whistler, reworking their forms into ethereal compositions that feel both historic and eerily undone. A graduate of Falmouth University with classical training at Madrid’s Prado Museum, Wood-Evans has exhibited internationally, with solo shows at Unit London and museum appearances across Europe. His work is held in major private and institutional collections worldwide, and he currently lives and works in East Sussex.
