Itzach Tarkay

With a strong following in the usa, tarkay is not as well known in the uk, but this could change in the coming years. born in serbia in 1935 tarkay and his family survived a nazi concentration camp and settled in israel after the war. he went on to receive formal training in isreal and was tutored by a number of notable israeli artists.

His usual subject is of seated women in vibrant colours though he did alter this on occasions. he was influenced heavily by the work of toulouse-lautrec, matisse and the impressionists and post-impressionists in general. he was featured at art expo in new york city in 1986 and 1987 and has been the subject of three books.
