Graeme Wilcox

Graeme Wilcox is a Scottish figurative painter renowned for his evocative depictions of the human form. Since graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Glasgow School of Art in 1993, he has maintained a studio at WASPS Southblock Studios in Glasgow. His work has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the UK and Europe.

Wilcox’s paintings often explore the subtleties of human emotion and interaction, capturing moments of introspection or ambiguity. Many of his recent works are inspired by scenes observed during his urban journeys, reimagining individuals and events encountered in the city. These compositions aim to convey the strangeness and poignancy of everyday life.

Working primarily in oil, Wilcox’s style blends contemporary realism with subtle abstraction. Figures are rendered with precision against minimal backgrounds, often suggesting urban environments. He employs techniques that introduce a sense of movement or vibration within the painting, contrasting with the more static, realist elements.

In addition to his painting practice, Wilcox is an active participant in the art community, regularly exhibiting his work and engaging with audiences through various platforms.
