
Craigie Aitchison
John Ronald Craigie Aitchison CBE RSA RA (13 January 1926 – 21 December 2009) was a Scottish painter known for his distinctive use of bold colours, simplified forms, and dreamlike compositions. His work often featured religious themes, still lifes, landscapes, and his beloved Bedlington Terriers. Aitchison was influenced by Italian Renaissance art and had a unique, poetic style that set him apart in British contemporary art. He was elected to the Royal Academy in 1988 and was highly regarded for his serene and luminous paintings.
