Christian Riese Lassen
Christian Riese Lassen (b. 1956, Maui, Hawaii) is a celebrated marine and seascape artist renowned for his vibrant “Two Worlds”
compositions, scenes that blend the drama of crashing waves with tranquil marine underworlds. Raised on the shores of Maui,
Lassen’s deep connection to the ocean shaped his creative vision, spanning surf culture, painting, and environmental advocacy.
Beginning his career as a surfboard artist, he gained international recognition in the 1990s for his luminous depictions of dolphins,
whales, coral reefs, and tropical vistas. His technique permeates through multiple media, including Lassengraphs—fine art prints
enhanced with hand embellishments and Mastergraphs, featuring rich color layering. In 1998, Lassen was named United
Nations Goodwill Ambassador for the International Year of the Ocean; his piece Sanctuary was used on a UN commemorative
stamp promoting ocean conservation.
Lassen has collaborated with major brands, including Walt Disney, incorporating iconic characters into his ocean-themed
works. His gallery presence spans galleries in Hawaii, Asia, Europe, and the United States. Today, Lassen’s artworks are valued by
collectors for their radiant beauty, emotional depth, and conservation-driven ethos.
