Omar Hamdi’s Tuscany offers a captivating glimpse into the tranquil charm of the Italian countryside. A winding sunlit path draws the viewer through a landscape dappled with tall, rustling trees and timeworn houses, their quiet presence whispering stories of generations gone by. Hamdi’s masterful balance of composition and colour invites a deep sense of calm and reflection, while the textured brushwork brings the scene to life—the flutter of leaves, the warmth of sun on earth, and the softness of a pastel sky. His use of classical impressionism with a contemporary touch enhances the authenticity of the scene, portraying Tuscany’s essence with grace and emotional depth.
The rich palette of ochres, greens, and blues mirrors the land’s natural beauty and stirs feelings of nostalgia and wonder. The painting’s tactile quality encourages not just visual admiration, but a deeper sensory connection with the landscape. In Tuscany, Hamdi captures more than just a place—he offers a moment of stillness, a celebration of nature, and a timeless piece of art that enriches any collection. To live with this work is to carry a piece of Tuscany’s soul into everyday life, where it continues to inspire and soothe.

Omar Hamdi, known professionally as Malva, was a celebrated Syrian-born artist whose vibrant and expressive works established him as a leading figure in contemporary impressionism. Born in 1951 in Al-Hasakah, Syria, Hamdi began his artistic career as a graphic artist and art critic for the Syrian press. In 1978, he relocated to Vienna, Austria, where he immersed himself in the rich traditions of European art, eventually becoming a naturalized Austrian citizen.
Malva’s work is defined by bold color palettes and dynamic brushwork, capturing the rhythm and emotion of landscapes, seascapes, and urban scenes from across Europe—including the fields of Provence, the canals of Venice, and the shores of Greece. His artistic style evolved over time, blending impressionist roots with elements of abstract expressionism.
A full-time artist throughout his life, Hamdi was an active member of the General Federation of Austrian Artists and the Künstlerhaus Wien. His paintings have been exhibited internationally, including at the renowned Arnot Gallery in New York, which served as a representative gallery for his work. His art is held in numerous public and private collections around the world, including museums, galleries, ministries of culture, and major financial institutions.
