Hamish Blakely

Hamish Blakely is a British figurative artist born in Canterbury in 1968. He studied illustration at Wimbledon School of Art and completed his degree at Kingston University. Initially a professional illustrator, Blakely’s clients included The Body Shop, British Telecom, and author Thomas Keneally. His work is renowned for its emotive use of light and shadow, capturing intimate moments with cinematic flair. Drawing inspiration from film noir, vintage glamour, and classic portraiture, Blakely’s paintings evoke a sense of nostalgia and timeless elegance. He has exhibited widely across the UK, including in Mayfair and Knightsbridge, and has received accolades such as the Benson & Hedges Gold Award for Illustration and the Manhattan Arts International Award.
