Eugenie Vronskaya’s Apparition is an evocative painting that merges ethereal beauty with quiet intensity. Deep blues and soft whites mingle with touches of pink and copper, creating a dreamlike interplay of light and shadow. Subtle, layered brushstrokes lend the surface a sense of movement, as if alive with unseen energies. At its centre, a striking vertical form hovers between figuration and abstraction, leaving space for personal interpretation. Poetic and enigmatic, Apparition invites viewers into a contemplative realm where mystery and emotion converge.

Eugenie Vronskaya (b. 1966, Moscow) is a Russian-born painter currently working between London and the Scottish Highlands. She trained in icon painting from childhood, then studied at the Krasnopresnenskaya School of Art and Moscow Fine Art University. In 1989 she moved to the UK, and in 1991 she became the first Russian student admitted to the MA programme at the Royal College of Art.

Her work spans figurative painting, abstraction and simplification, drawing on a deep spiritual and emotional connection with her surroundings — especially the landscapes, light and solitude of Scotland. Recurring motifs include horses, trees, solitary figures and objects, which she often uses to explore inner perception, memory and the metaphysical dimension.

Vronskaya’s paintings are held in private and public collections internationally, including Tate Britain, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Pushkin Museum, and the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. She has exhibited widely with solo and group shows, and teaches at the Heatherley School of Fine Art.
